No mea culpa but ...shock, horror

Age columnist Paul Sheahan wrote an op ed that appeared in the paper's online edition yesterday in which he deplores the Reprehensible portrayal of a murderer as a victim.

The piece doesn't exactly represent an admission on the part of the Age that reprehensible errors were made in an earlier piece from Guardian columnist Fiochra Gibbons published last week but it's amazing that the Age allowed Sheahan's views to be aired.

Amazing given that successive Middle East bureau chiefs at Fairfax have over the past decade done exactly this with the Israelis in their war with Palestinian terror:

A murderer of children becomes a victim.
