THE INVERTED MORAL CODE

The irrepressible Kirschen asks a really vexing question. NATO jets attacked a convoy of cars thought to be a group of insurgents. Afghan officials say at least 21 people died in the attack, though the Afghan cabinet had reported that 27 people had been killed - all civilians. The targeted execution "could have serious diplomatic consequences for Israel" according to TIME Magazine although there is no proof that Israel was responsible. The one dead person was a known terrorist.

The first incident raised barely a yawn from anybody. The second has caused outrage.

We live in a world that has an inverted moral code.
